BELLA VISTA
Bella Vista Project”, which commemorates the massacre that took place in Bella Vista, Bojaya, Colombia, in 2002, is a continuation of more than 12 years of work since the first seed was planted. Tonight we are showing it with a new cast and a new iteration that is planned to be presented in Colombia next year.
Bella Vista Project is being reconstructed in 2020/2021 with the intention of its return to Colombia and the town of Bella Vista “Nuevo” to commemorate the 20th year anniversary of the massacre.
Bella Vista Project (2012) was supported in part by the NALAC Fund for the Arts, National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures, the Ford Foundation, and Southwest Airlines. The piece was developed with the support of the N.A.D.I.N.E. Project, a choreographic residency directed by Libby Nye and Janet Soares, and the SURYA Dance School (Italy) 2011 residency. Other support for Bella Vista Project and Festival was given by CUMBE Center for African and Diaspora Dance. The reconstruction of Bella Vista Project 2021 has being possible thanks to the financial and physical space support of iD Studio Theater and for generous contribution of private donors.
